Should I stop overclocking my laptop?

I got intel core i5 wih 2.53 ghz and I use the intel turbo boost gadget to overclock it to 2.80 ghz and everyone tells me my laptop will crash and I know it can but will it really crash when using intel turbo boost even thought turbo boost only overclocks it when it needs a faster processor.
