If half my toe nail feel off could i paint over the cut off side to make it look like a ful nail?

Okay so i was cutting my nails and yes they have fungi's under the nail so i cute the nail were the stuff had fungi so like half my nail is gone and i was wondering if it would be safe to file the rest of the nail down so its like not that much of a height difference if that makes sense haha and then put nail polish over the half gone and half there so it would look like a normal nail? could that possible poison me? please be serious with this please and thank you [:
